Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide with the sequence Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro (MEHFPGP), identified by CAS number 80714-61-0. It consists of the ACTH(4-7) fragment extended at the C-terminus by a Pro-Gly-Pro motif — a modification that markedly increases resistance to enzymatic degradation while removing the corticotropic activity of the parent hormone. Developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Semax has been characterised extensively in preclinical neurological research. Studies have examined its influence on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF) expression, its modulation of dopaminergic and serotonergic signalling, and its activity in cerebral ischaemia and neuroprotection models. Further research has investigated its effects on inflammatory and immune signalling within neural tissue, and its behaviour in learning, memory and attention research models. Supplied as a lyophilised white powder with a molecular weight of 813.9 Da and molecular formula C37H51N9O10S. Supplied strictly for in-vitro laboratory research. Not for human or veterinary consumption.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Semax legal to buy in Australia?
Semax is supplied strictly as a research chemical for in-vitro laboratory use. It is not approved for human therapeutic use in Australia and is not for human or animal consumption. Researchers are responsible for compliance with Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) regulations and their institution's protocols.
What purity is Semax?
We specify ≥98% purity — the High-Tier Research Grade (commercial RUO) standard. Every batch is analysed in-house by HPLC and mass spectrometry and ships with a Certificate of Analysis; select batches also undergo independent, third-party purity verification.
Does Semax ship with a Certificate of Analysis (COA)?
Yes — every batch ships with a batch-specific COA documenting HPLC purity and mass-spectrometry identity. 3 Semax batch certificates are published in full at australianpeptidelabs.com.au/certificates/semax, so the analysis can be read before ordering and the batch number printed on the vial matched against it.
Where can I buy Semax in Australia?
Semax can be ordered here from Australian Peptide Labs for in-vitro research use, dispatched same day from within Australia with a COA included.
Do you provide dosing or administration guidance for Semax?
No. As these compounds are supplied for laboratory research only, we do not provide dosing or administration protocols. Our research library covers reconstitution and concentration calculations for in-vitro work.
