Cagrilintide is a long-acting synthetic analogue of the pancreatic hormone amylin, identified by CAS number 1415456-99-3. It is a 37 amino acid peptide carrying a C20 fatty diacid attached through a linker, which promotes albumin binding and extends its half-life relative to native amylin. Cagrilintide acts as a non-selective agonist at amylin receptors (AMY1-3) and the calcitonin receptor. Research has investigated its activity in amylin receptor signalling, energy-homeostasis pathways and gastric-emptying models, including studies alongside GLP-1 receptor agonists.
